Definition of Vice chancellor

(Law) An officer next in rank to a chancellor.
An officer in a university, chosen to perform certain duties, as the conferring of degrees, in the absence of the chancellor.
(R. C. Ch.) The cardinal at the head of the Roman Chancery.
